Autumn 2025 Mission Trip
November took the team to Hachioji, Chiba, and Tokyo, where most of the work was a matter of showing up where people already were — a student's English dinner near his campus, a Thanksgiving table that outgrew the room, a conversation group found on Meetup. Plans changed more than once. The people the team met that month are still turning up at church.
What happened on the ground.
English Dinner Outreach near Kogakuin University
Towa, a Christian university student, asked us to help him host an English dinner near his campus. One of the guests, Keiko, was connected to Asakawa International Church through the evening and started attending services. The pastor there later told us that Keiko had said she wanted to become a Christian.
American Thanksgiving Outreach at Christ Center Church
Christ Center Church asked for help hosting an American Thanksgiving dinner. The team brought supplies from the US, helped cook, and invited locals to the table. The church has about forty members; eighty-five people came.
English Conversation Outreach
When a few plans fell through, the team looked up English conversation groups on Meetup and joined them to meet new people. Through one of those groups the Chiba team met Takuma and Mikiya, and invited them to the Thanksgiving dinner at Christ Center Church. Takuma has been going to the church ever since, and has brought many of his friends to church events. He says he will always want to go to church; we are praying that he comes to trust Christ as Lord and Savior. Plans change, but God is still sovereign.
